J&J Printer and Plotter Service is a family-owned company in Portsmouth, RI. The company currently is serving all types of businesses in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. We help small and home-based business with one or two printers, to large companies with 50+ machines. Our service provides parts, maintenance, and repairs to all types of printers, plotters, copiers, scanners, and faxes.

In 2014, Jim and Jeanne Smith launched J&J Printer and Plotter Service. That was after Jim separated from eight years of employment with a Middletown, RI toner and service supply company whose future was uncertain. Jim may have serviced your equipment in the past and would like to continue to do so in the future.

Jim has over 25 years of experience in all types of equipment repair, the last eight years specializing in printers, plotters, copiers, and fax machines. Most all manufacturers' equipment is supported including HP, Brother, Xerox, Sharp, Lexmark, IBM, Samsung, Epson, Canon, and Dell. From the simplest fax machine to the largest architectural and engineering wide format plotters, Jim can handle all your needs.

Jeanne handles marketing and finance, keeping things organized and communicating with existing and new customers while we grow the business. Currently, she works part-time for the company and will increase her participation as needed.

Q: What areas do you service?
A: We service Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and eastern Connecticut.

Q: My printer is an older model and needs service. Should I repair or replace it?
A: That depends on several factors. What would be the cost to repair your printer? Do you like the machine? Is it shared by several users that would need to learn to use a new machine? Are there replacement supplies on hand for the existing machine? Also, drivers would need to be installed for a new replacement printer.

Q: If I decide to replace my printer, copier or plotter do you sell replacement equipment?
A: Yes. We maintain an inventory of new and refurbished equipment, and if we don't stock what you are looking for, we can usually find what you need from one of our vendors.

Q: Do you offer service or maintenance contracts?
A: Yes. We can customize a service and maintenance program tailored to your needs. We can provide regular cleaning, maintenance and parts replacement for all of your equipment. Several options are offered from basic cleaning and maintenance to all-inclusive service which includes all parts and repairs as required.

Q: I contacted the manufacturer of my equipment to inquire about a repair and was told parts are no longer available. What options do I have?
A: Most original equipment manufacturers only provide new parts and support for a limited time. This is planned obsolescence. As new OEM parts become unavailable, we stock used and refurbished parts that can extend the life of your equipment while you prepare for eventual replacement.
